Search Engine Optimisation

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website in search engines' "natural," search results.

In general, the higher ranked on the search results page and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users.

The process of SEO is in 2 stages, the 'on page' activities and the 'off page' activities.

All Locus Tek websites abide by the search engine guidelines, for this we mean predominantly the Google and Bing search engines. The 'on page' guidelines laid out for implementation are included in any web site delivered as part of the design process.

Some of these activities include the following:

  1. Understanding how your target market interact with search engines
  2. The use of technologies that are visible to search engines
  3. Efficient positioning of content
  4. Link structures
  5. keyword research
  6. Use of search engine tools etc....

The second activity and by far more effective in page ranking are 'off page' optimisation and comprise those factors not located on the web page and include the following activities:

  1. Competitive analysis
  2. Link analysis,
  3. Keyword analysis
  4. Use of social media sites such as Twitter, LinkedIn and facebook

The above activities are not conclusive but are necessary to improve page ranking and thus higher up the search results page.
